Successful launch day

Thank you to all our supporters.

The three films chosen to kick of Cinema Nairn seemed to prove popular with a sizeable crowd attending each screening - about 130 people in total for the three films. "I Know Where I'm Going" proved the most popular (as predicted by our poll) with 61 people in attendance.

We were left hundreds of comments/suggestions and a few additional volunteers made themselves known, so once we have sifted through the notes and decided what to show/do next we will make announcements here and in the press.

Meanwhile we understand that we will be featuring on "Reporting Scotland" tonight (Monday 30th November) as some filming was carried out by the BBC at yesterdays event.

  1. Thanks for the entertainment, the perfect refuge froma dreich day.
Some of the lines in the Magnificent Seven can almost take on a new comedy significance in this new millennium. If you weren't there then you missed a great film.
I know where I'm going never fails to entertain as well.
The only regret? No Albatross between the features!
    See you all next time.

  2. This is a great idea and good for Nairn. However, with a wee baby it's a bit hard for us to attend and not fair on everyone else. Can you add a Dream and Scream session to your program next time?

  4. I prefer a "Stormy Petrel on a Stick" myself or perhaps "Crunchy Frog" remember - "We use only the finest baby frogs, dew-picked and flown from Iraq, cleansed in finest-quality spring water, lightly killed, and then sealed in a succulent Swiss quintuple smooth treble cream milk chocolate envelope and lovingly frosted with glucose."

  5. Thanks to everyone involved in making this possible, for garnering publicity, assisting with technicalities, making badges, posters, selling tickets and most importantly turning up and enjoying the films.

Thanks also for the dozens of comments left at the events and for those above.

Watch this space for details of the next instalment...

  6. Every small town like Nairn could support a venture like this ie Buckie, Dufftown, Grantown, Forres, Lossiemouth, etc if groups of individuals took a leaf out of your book and made the effort. You guys didn't seem to be stressed on Sunday evening and I am sure it's not that difficult...

  7. The Little Theatre in Nairn used to show films on a Tuesday night throughout most of the year.

However, they had to stop at the end of 2006 due to lack of support and not being able to cover their costs.

I do hope the "Tilda Swinton effect" will ensure that you are more successful.

We did enjoy "I Know Where I'm Going" and look forward to more classic films.

  8. At the screening of Wizard of Oz, you asked us for suggestions for future films. How about Jimmy Stewart in "Harvey"?
