Cinema Nairn AGM & cinematic treat

Our AGM will be held on Monday 20th February at 8.15pm in the Conference Room of Nairn Community & Arts Centre. There will be a short cinematic treat in store for all those who attend...

2012 programme January to June

Announcing our varied programme of planned film screenings in Nairn up until June...

Friday 27th January 7.30pm  Some Like It Hot 1959 (PG) 115 mins  Classic romp where Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon are two musicians escaping ‘The Mob’ by joining an all female band led by Marilyn Munro.

Monday 27th February 7.30pm in the Little Theatre*  Take One Action Film Festival Even the Rain 2010 (15) Spain (Subtitled) 103 mins  + discussion afterwardsSpain conquered the New World for gold… 500 years on water is gold.  As a director and his  crew shoot a controversial movie about Columbus, local people rise up against plans to privatise the water supply.

Monday 12th March  2.00pm  On the Town 1949 (U) 98mins  Seniors Special £2.50 including tea and bakes - Wonderful music, including ‘New York, New York’, and terrific shots of  New York city -  Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly star.

Friday 30th  March  7.30pm  Source Code  2011 (12A) 93mins   Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan star in this new Duncan Jones thriller, where a soldier wakes up in another body and discovers he is on a mission to find a train bomber.

Friday 20th April  7.30pm Another Time, Another Place 1983 (15) 118 mins   Beautiful BAFTA winning adaptation of Jessie Kesson’s north-east classic, starring Phyllis Logan as Janie, the farmer’s wife who falls for an Italian P.O.W.

Friday 25th May  7.30pm Michael Clayton 2007 (15) 119 mins    Another chance to see Tilda Swinton’s Oscar winning performance with George Clooney in this legal thriller.

Friday 29th June 7.30pm Made in Dagenham 2010 (15) 113 mins  It’s 1968 at the Ford car plant, where underpaid female workers protest against sexual discrimination, starting the worldwide movement for equal pay.  Sally Hawkins and Bob Hoskins star. (Note: Date changed from that originally published)
